How to Remove a User Only from Jira
The Atlassian suite (of which Jira is a part) centralizes user management across all its apps — removing a user in one application deletes them from all the other apps as well. This also applies to using Jira's Remove a User offboarding action.
Offboarding a user from Jira (but not from other Atlassian apps)
If you wish to offboard a user’s Jira account while keeping their other Atlassian accounts intact, do the following:
- Run an offboarding workflow on the user.
- Click Delete on Remove User From All Groups and Remove a User actions.
- Click Edit Action under the Remove user from Specific Group(s) entry.
- Select the Jira user group from the list and click Save Task.
This approach ensures that the user is removed only from Jira, while preserving access to other Atlassian applications.
