Looker Data Processing
Integrating Looker with Zluri provides a powerful solution for gaining detailed visibility into Looker users and their usage patterns. This integration allows you to track user licenses, monitor user activity, and identify inactive users, ultimately optimizing Looker licenses and managing spending effectively.
How Zluri fetches the data:
Zluri calls the following API base URL to fetch data from Looker:
https://{instance_name}.cloud.looker.com/
Example: https://mycompany.cloud.looker.com/
Role-based license assignment:
License Mapping
The logic for processing user role-type data processing logic is as follows:
For users with ‘Viewer’ role permission, Viewer license is assigned to the associated role IDs.
For users with ‘Editor’ role permission, an Editor license is assigned to the associated role IDs.
For users with ‘Montercalops’, ‘BI Developer’, ‘BA Developer’, or ‘Admin’ role permission, a Developer license is assigned to the associated role IDs.
Note: The license precedence is Developer > Editor > Viewer. If a user has multiple roles tagged, the highest role should take precedence to have the license assigned.
How to validate the data:
Validating role-based licenses count
On your Looker Studio administrator account, access the users’ data report from the reporting dashboard.
Download the user’s data report and match the count with the ‘number of licenses assigned’ count received from the API.
Refer: Export data from a chart help article for more information.
